Media Bias Ratings

A rating should help you ask better questions, not tell you what to believe.

What we examine

Ownership and funding, editorial endorsements, recurring story selection, language choices, correction practices, independent assessments and the outlet’s own standards.

What labels mean

Left, centre and right describe an observed editorial tendency. State-controlled identifies direct government control. Factuality is considered separately because political position and accuracy are not the same thing.

Limits and challenges

Outlets contain many journalists and can change over time. Every rating is a starting point. Verity should publish supporting evidence, date reviews and correct material errors.
